I see this contest as conservative right versus conservative light. Congressman Lincoln Davis and I share about half of our ideologies. I wish we overlapped completely but that's Tennessee's political landscape. I see Scott DesJarlais as another rich guy looking for a pelt for his trophy wall with nothing in common with the people of his district and no concept of what it will take to rebuild the manufacturing base in Tennessee. And hey...Do I get to make fun of a man who portrays himself as a true conservative who has a French name?

In the 4th Congressional District, Davis, a four-term incumbent, will face Republican challenger Scott DesJarlais, a primary care physician who's originally from South Dakota but now lives in South Pittsburg. Republicans are trying to paint Davis as someone who, in Sere's words, "is going to rubber-stamp the president's agenda."

But Oppenheimer said it will be hard to make that charge stick since Davis has gone against the wishes of President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders on some issues, most notably the new health care reform law.

Congressman Davis is unique

Congressman Davis is unique because he listens to the folks back home. He votes their wishes and doesn't kow tow to the party line. We need more people like that.

"WhitesCreek"....I'm not

"WhitesCreek"....I'm not sure what Dr DeJarlais' motives are for running, but I know I'm tired of the politics as usual in DC. I chose to run as an independent to try and break the cycle of Republican-Democrat controversy and bring some real thought to legislation that affects us all. Bringing jobs to Tennesseans is one of my highest priorities...the unemployment rate in our district consistently stays above the national average. But we need real jobs, not temporary census jobs, or temporary work projects.

I would be very interested to know what you would do to increase our manufacturing base in TN. Look forward to reading more of your posts...GYork.

DrYorkForCongress: jobs?

Welcome! It is always good to see the voters having more choice in an election.

According to your website, on most issues you seem to agree with the Democratic and Republican candidates: pro-life, pro-gun, shrink the federal government, lower taxes, create jobs.

Please, I have a question for you. How do you propose to "create real jobs for Tennesseans?"

I see your web domain name privacy options are handled by a company in Ontario, Canada ((link...)).

Your web host and registrar, siteground.com, while apparently having U.S. data centers (although not in Tennessee), is listed as being in Panama ((link...)).

I know the dollar amount is not much; it is a trivial matter. But I am curious. Please, can you expound on your ideas for adding jobs?
