The Roane County Election Campaign Kick-off Event will be held this Friday May 14th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Junior's Restaurant in Rockwood.

All local county and city candidates are invited to attend (Regardless of Party affiliation) including candidates for County Executive, County Commission (Districts 1 - 7), Circuit Court Clerk, Trustee, Sheriff, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, County Attorney, School Board (Districts 1 and 3/4), Constable (Districts 1 - 7), and the OS Clerk/Finance Officer.

Each candidate will have 3 to 5 minutes to speak.

We have received a great response, so this event should be informative and interactive for all that attend.

NOTE: We have tried very hard to contact all the candidates and get this out to the media, but please keep spreading the word for anyone that we may not have been able to reach.

This event is sponsored by the Roane County Democratic Party. For more information, contact Bob Cowan at 717-2767.

I saw a notice of it in the paper a week or so ago. It is interesting to hear the candidates speak and its an informal setting for those who plan to attend.

WhitesCreek originally

WhitesCreek originally posted this announcement on April 16th to RoaneViews - (link...) (just about a month ago).

We submitted a press release to the local media about this event. It has been in the newspaper. Yesterday it appeared in the Daily News Express Roane Edition. The Roane County Election Commission provided us a list of candidates, however they were not able to provide us with the phone numbers that had been supplied by the candidates. Therefore, this caused us to start our own search, as a courtesy. We attempted to call the candidates that we could find phone numbers for. We were surprised at how many have discontinued their home phone service, thus making the task harder.

We are trying to provide a positive event for the county and have tried to inform the candidates and the public about this event. We have had a really good response, so we know the word has been getting out.

Good News - "Early Voting Kick-off Event" in July

We had a good event last night, I was great to see and hear from those interested in serving our community. It was powerful night with that many strong leaders all in one room with the storm brewing outside and sometimes in the room. (We understand that some candidates were not able to attend due to prior engagements, plus others had their own reasons.)

We have good news to report! As we received numerous calls right before the event that due to the severe bad rain storms and the potential hail, not to mention the traffic back-up on I-40 that some residents were not able to make it down last night. The good news is that we are going to do it again bigger and better. So, today we announce the "Early Voting Kick-off Event". Tentatively this event will be either July 15th or 16th and tentatively at the Kingston Community Center. We are inviting our Republican friends at the State and Federal level to join our local county and city non-partisan candidates. Keep in mind that early voting runs July 16th to July 31st, so the timing of this event is critical for the voters to see and hear from the candidates.

P.S. We would like to thank Junior for his great hospitality last night. It’s always a pleasure to kick-off campaigns at Junior’s.

I was a little late getting

I was a little late getting there due to the severe storm we were having so I missed the presentations from Lincoln Davis and Dennis Ferguson but they both spoke with me afterward.

Special thanks to Lynda Davis for letting Lincoln swing by Roane County on their anniversary date night.
