Officially

I am officially un-affiliated with any political party. Every one of them have gone stone cold crazy. And, none of them have any intentions on helping us. I will vote. However it won't be down any party lines.

I know Obama won't be at a

I know Obama won't be at a TEA Party, but it would be nice if he went to Reality Land!!

You don't get the joke, do

You don't get the joke, do you Chelsea?

I most certainly do get the

I most certainly do get the joke. I guess you don't get my type of humor.

What I don't get is how you

What I don't get is how you think Obama isn't dealing with reality. I have my problems with his administration but it's mostly that he's not hammering the COP with their constant lying. I deal with this on a daily basis with the TVA ash disaster, getting bombarded with the same old coal talking points that have been disproved over and over yet they still get repeated. The Tea party folks live in an alternate reality that has no basis in fact. If they got what they clain they want this country would degenerate into chaos and anarchy. I guess the GOP is slightly better since they only want the Constitution to be replaced with a Corporation manifesto.

OMG!!! Are you serious? WC

OMG!!! Are you serious? WC you are the poster child for drinking the Kool-Aid when it comes to party loyalty. You want Obama to call the GOP out for lying? Do you not see the irony in your own comment. No, sadly, you probably don't.

I'm just curious have you read the Constitution? What, if you think the Tea Party ideals would lead to anarchy and chaos and the GOP wants a corporate manifesto, do you think the Dems want? I see them only continuing more and more power grabs that far exceed the authority provided by the Constitution.

And Chelsea, how dare you even joke that the One isn't a part or reality. Don't you know only Tea Party and GOP people are acceptable targets for ridicule here? :-) Now matter how much evidence exist that O is so far out of touch with Americans it's not even clear that he's ever been to the United States or met an American.

I see lots of charges but no

I see lots of charges but no evidence, RV. I don't think the Dems are anywhere near perfect and I constantly push them to move in a progressive direction. The GOP's new movement conservatism has essentially destroyed democracy and turned our government into a lobbyists' eden. The GOP packed Supreme Court decision making corporations into people sold out our citizens and opened the door for America to be controlled by foreign owned corporations.

You inply that Obama hasn't worked to improve things but that is demonstrably false. The Dow is up 30%, the jobs loss trend has been reversed, and efforts are being made to stop the bleeding in the worst health insurance situation in the world but the GOP has opposed progress in every one of these areas.

If the people only vote for

If the people only vote for the candidate who spends the most money (corporate donations) then they deserve what they get!

The uninformed/uneducated voter is one of the biggest problem this country faces!!!

WC You never cease to amaze me....

You state the GOP conservative movement has destroyed democracy and turned our government into a lobbyist eden. Obviously you turned a blind liberal eye when Obama appointed 17 powerful lobbyists to high government positions including his cabinet....and all within the first 14 days of his presidency. Here is a rundown of the most notorious 12 lobbyists he appointed.

(link...)

And for everything else you said regarding the liberal Supreme Court that you deem as GOP packed and the Dow being up 30% (Due I suppose to Obama) and the employment situation being reversed is a complete fabrication. Those may be the talking points of Liberadio or Air America (Oh I forgot they went bankrupt), but this is not reality in the real free market world that we conservatives are trying to live in. Obama is a marxist socialist and he is still not liberal enough for you. Dude you are going to be in for a shock in November. America is clearly not buying the liberal propoganda that government will solve all of our problems through their debt loaded social programs. I personally have had enough of this nonsense and welcome the tea party movement, conservatism, or anything for that matter that runs counter to socialism.

By the way I love it when liberals scream BUSH everytime they are challenged. Atleast I made good money during six years of BUSH while it looks like I'm destined to pay good money during the OBAMA admin. I just hope and pray Obama's policies run aground in November and completely sink in 2013!

Great list, C man, proves my point

The very first one, Eric Holder, quit being a lobbyist 6 years before he was appointed by Obama. Obama took this very question at the GOP conference on live TV and even satisfied the R's that he was truthful and accurate. How can you possibly compare appointing people who have a long history of public service with appointing people like Bush EPA appointee Jeffrey Holmstead: From a 2004 article...

The EPA official, a lawyer, formerly worked for a firm that represents utility companies, which are among the biggest air polluters.

When the Environmental Protection Agency issued proposed changes to air pollution rules Jan. 30, the wording troubled Martha Keating, a scientist with environmental advocacy group Clear the Air.

"It struck me that I had seen this before," Keating said.

At least 12 paragraphs were identical to or closely resembled a Sept. 4, 2003, proposal given to the Bush administration by Latham & Watkins, a law firm that represents utility companies.

The EPA official overseeing the proposed changes is Jeffrey Holmstead, who until he joined the EPA in October 2001 had worked as a lawyer at Latham & Watkins. His clients included a chemical company and a trade group for utility companies. Power plants are among the biggest air polluters.

Holmstead oversees the EPA division that governs air pollution.

Environmental groups say the rewrite poses a health threat because it slows the reduction of mercury emissions by as much as 11 years. Those emissions can end up in water where they contaminate fish. Forty-three states have issued advisories about fish consumption because of mercury pollution, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group said.

One effect of the proposal would be that 168 of 236 Western-based plants, including those in Colorado, would not be required to reduce those emissions at all, Keating said.

You didn't address the other 16

What about the other 16 lobbyists hired by Obama. You neglected to mention them. You brought it up my friend...not me.

Why don't you go back and

Why don't you go back and watch Obama school the GOP when they asked this same question?

And on a personal level, C-man, how did you like seeing the American Coal Ash Association writing the coal ash storage regulations in the Bush EPA? How did that work for you?

Obama has appointed far far fewer former lobbyists than any Republican administration in recent history. He took no corporate money for his presidential bid and owes no debt to them. Is he perfect? Far from it, but he's a damned sight better than the empty vessel we had in the previous regime.

Perhaps we have differing

Perhaps we have differing views on reality. That is what makes the United States great, we can agree to disagree.

W has been out for over a

W has been out for over a year now, anybody see any changes yet? I mean changes for the good. If you do you must be drinking the kool aid for sure!

But as sure as you can imagine,in two more years,it will still be W's fault. SOME will be drunk with the kool-aid then. I am thankful I have a brain.
I don't drink kool-aid!

Here are a couple of changes Ron,

First the EPA is beginning to function again and Roane County is lucky that some federal agency is holding TVA responsible and accountable for the cleanup of their ash mess.

The EPA is drawing up new regulations for coal-fired generating facilities that will better protect our health and reduce pollution.

The FDA is finally looking at stopping the rampant use of antibiotics in the American meat industry and the resulting negative health risks to the American consumer.

Torture is no longer an acceptable policy of the U.S.

Your phone is no longer being tapped.

Respect for America around the world is being restored.

And Ron, everyone has a brain, some are just more evolved than others!

Right Farmer....

We don't torture anymore. We Mirandize terrorists and enemy combatants, give them constitutional rights so that we can't interrogate them and then the taxpayers foot the bill for their high profile trials and appeals after appeals after appeals. November can't come fast enough!

Read the facts,

these interrogations got us nowhere and we violated our own laws.
Just because our government calls someone a terrorist doesn't make it so. We are still a nation of laws, Crappieman. Apparently you like the idea of living in a fascist state where the military or a dictator decides who is a terrorist. Actually nearly all of the enemy combatants numbering in the hundreds (outside of 2 or 3 that were poorly and illegally interrogated and gave us almost no usable information) have been tried in our very competent judicial system and are serving long sentences.

Hey C-man

You claim in your various rants on RV to be a stalwart christian. Ever hear the biblical admonition to "Do unto others as you would have them due unto you"?

If as a professed christian you are okay with torturing another human being, then you are as wacked out as any Muslim jihadist.

Living and teaching Earth friendly sustainable agricultural practices.

I don't know about stalwart.....

But I am a christian saved by the grace of Jesus Christ. Am I perfect? No! Is any christian perfect and without sin? No! However, the Bible that I read is filled with wars, atrocities, and destruction against the enemies of God's people the Israelites and all of which were directed by God. The Bible states there is a time for war and a time for peace, and a time to love and a time to hate which was penned by Solomon the wisest man to ever walk the planet. Sure Jesus taught us to love our fellow man and to help those in need. But when you get past the gospel of Jesus and into Revelations you see where there will be utter destruction of the enemies of God and of the heavens and earth as we know it. The Bible says that at armageddon the blood of those slain by God will flow as high as the horses bridles for a distance of 1600 stadia or about 180 miles. Thats alot of torture Farmer. Perhaps you need to read the whole Bible before you challenge my christianity. Make no mistake about it islam is an enemy of the CROSS OF JESUS!!! These evil islamic terrorists do not deserve U.S constitutional rights and I don't want my tax dollars financing their trials. I say give them quick fast and in a hurry military trials and then send them back to God and let him deal with them!

Thanks goodness not all

Thanks goodness not all Christians believe as you do. You version of God may choose to torture but I choose not to.

I don't have a version of God or Christianity...

I just believe the Bible and all of it as the Word of God. There are alot of things in the Bible that people have problems with. I don't pick and choose which parts to believe. The Bible has some very explicit situations where God dealt harshly with his enemies and even those that didn't conform with his laws. How many people do you think died during the flood of Noah? How many did God destroy at Sodom and Gomorrah? How many did God destroy during the Israelites exodus from Egypt? How many did God destroy during the hundreds of wars fought in the old testament? How many will God destroy at armageddon? As a christian I view islam as an enemy of the cross and an enemy of God. They are the ones that are waging war on us and I don't think I'll allow you to shame me for my desire to fight back and to preserve our survival as a nation and a free people at any cost. Liberals call it torture. I call it survival.

We're done with this thread

We're done with this thread on RoaneViews, C Man.

From the beginning of time

From the beginning of time more people have died at the hands of those who wish to force their religious beliefs on others than for any other reason. That is one of the reasons we have and need separation of church and state. If we didn't have it our country would be ruled by those who think, as you seem to think, that we should all be following what you think is the straight and narrow path or we should be put to death.

Why do religious groups, whether it be Baptists, Muslims or whatever, always want religion to be an "us against them" struggle? Why do they always think they are right and everyone else is wrong?

I'm certainly glad I don't think the same way you do.

Memory is an amazinly selective thing......

Who led us into 2 wars? During whose administration did many government regulated financial institutions reach the point that their demise would have caused a depression without gov't bail outs? How can ANY administration correct 8 years worth of incompetence in 1 year? It's inconceivable how one individual can be blamed for a worldwide recession, yet many point the finger at Obama. I agree with Rick that our politicians have little interest in the general welfare of the country. Most abide by party lines, personal gain, and gather as much pork as they can. These people have rendered each other ineffective and will put the country in serious jeopardy if the American people continue to tolerate it.

I guess some consider "drinking the Kool Aid" to be the penalty for any sort of spirit of cooperation to get the country out of a bad situation.

YOU SAY: "It's inconceivable

YOU SAY: "It's inconceivable how one individual can be blamed for a worldwide recession, yet many point the finger at Obama."

Yet in the same post, you point fingers at Bush as being at fault. You can't have it both ways!

You fail to get the point....

8 years of Bush created the situation that Obama has to deal with. Both ways doesn't apply!

All I see is that Obama is

All I see is that Obama is working faster to ruin the working class than Bush did!!!!

oh come on, H. Let's have

oh come on, H. Let's have some facts to back that bs up.

It might be true that Obama is working faster.

It might be true that Obama is working faster but one thing is for sure, Bush got one hell of a head start and it's going to be really hard for Obama to ever top the damage Bush has done to the working class!!!

Bush took us from a near zero deficit in eight years to having the Chinese holding a mortgage on America that our children will be paying for the rest of their lives, One of the worst recessions in history started under his watch. The financial markets were on the brink of collapse before he left office causing thousands of hard working middle class Americans to lose their homes. He allowed Wall Street to ruin the housing market with their greed that resulted in Hundreds of Thousands of middle class people losing their jobs.

Obama had better be working fast if he's going to top that!!!

Neither one did it alone.

Neither one did it alone. They had congress to help them. Obama did run on the premise that he was the man to do the job, then gives the impression he was surprised at state of affairs. He was in the US Senate and and US House prior to that and should have been aware of how bad things were.
As far as I am concerned, his main concern should be listening to us.

AMEN!! AMEN!!! AMEN!!!

AMEN!! AMEN!!! AMEN!!!

Obama did run on the premise that he was the man...

Yes, Obama did run on the premise that he was the man to get the job done. He also said right up front that it would not be easy and it would not be done overnight. I think he will get the job done. I didn't expect him to get it done in the first year and I'm not sure that he can get it done in one term. Eight years of decline is hard to turn around. The indicators that I see as an Independent, not a Democrat, are that things are slowly starting to get better. To say that he is doing more to hurt the middle class than Bush did is something that I just don't buy.

I say give the man a chance. It is his turn to try. If he has done worse than Bush at the end of the his first term then I will help vote him out and give someone else a chance... and it doesn't matter to me what party he (or she) is affiliated with.

I'm not going to beat this

I'm not going to beat this dog after this last post. I'm just saying that the focus needs to be on getting the job(s) done, not placing blame on predecessors.

You might look at how

the Bush appointees on the Supreme Court consistently vote against the right of citizens to get a fair hearing, and always tilt unashamedly in favor of corporate interests. The latest insult to democracy and the working class is the decision to allow corporations unlimited campaign spending.

Republicans in both houses of Congress seem totally anti-working class in their voting records. Minimum wage increases, worker safety, consumer protection, environmental protection, affordable health care; all I hear from the GOP on these issues is NO, NO, NO!

Living and teaching Earth friendly sustainable agricultural practices.

I agree with harrimanite

I have said it many times. As long as we keep electing the same old, professional politicians, there will never be any change. People, this is, in part, our fault. Most people vote for whoever makes the best commercials, promising the things we want to hear. Voters do not take the time to do any research. For instance, who contributed to the candidates' campaign? How did they vote on certain issues that effect our lives, and our country?
All of this is pulic record.
As far as this being a GOP mess? I'll say this a million times. The fault is from both sides. I'll take just one item out of the health care plan and mention it. If it goes through like it is, the elderly and disableds' health care would be cut 10% Yes Medicare would only pay 70% of medical costs instead of the 80% it pays now. I know many people that would ne devestated by this if they had to spend a few days in the hospital.
Democrats are just as guilty at running this country in the ground as the Republicans. NOBODY can wear a halo on this one; not even the average voter. Give us term limits, and cap what can be spent on a campaign (not just by a candidate, but by PACS and special interest groups too).
Right now, the system is broken. Neither party, nor the voter seems to show any interest in fixing it. We keep sending politicians to Washington instead of statesmen (the term includes women too). The repairs start at the bottom, folks. The voter is the bottom.

Well said Rick.

Well said Rick.

Agreed

Nobody is blameless, but everybody points fingers at each other while nothing gets accomplished.

It's amusing

It's amusing to me to see, even on here, how determined it is for people to try and appear that their opinion is always right. Even on RoaneViews, we pick sides and refuse to cross the line. This goes back to what I posted earlier. It's our fault just as much as the people we send to Washington. They stand there and disagree with each other, even if one has a good idea. We argue and uphold what they are doing by blaming the other side. So, that makes us no different from them. How do we get them to change if we don't try ourselves?
Hey, I am guilty of it myself. But, by watching nothing get accomplished in Washington, because they refuse to listen to each other, makes me realize that just maybe I need to look at both sides of an issue, even local ones, before making up my mind. I refuse to defend either party just because I am registered in one of them. At this moment in time, neither party is representing us. They are just representing their chosen party in hopes of remaining a politician. Professional politicians are all we have now. Yes, that goes for both Democrats and Republicans. And, again, it's OUR fault.

Indeed ...It is our fault

And we have become so polarized that middle of the road moderates no longer have any impact. It's all about who has the most power (votes). We are 1 year into a 4 year administration and Obama is experiencing the reality of being a DC outsider. Kinda like a AA ball player who suddenly finds himself in the big leagues. The sharks (on both sides of the aisle) are circling while he treads water.

These "Tea Parties" are an no more than a gathering place for pissed off right wingers. Their poster girl Sarah Palin, so critical of Obama's use of a teleprompter, wrote her notes on her hand and was paid over 100K for her "patriotic" appearance. Democrats across the country should hope that she is the party's choice 1n the next election.

Obama contributed to the mess by trying to push a healthcare bill through using brute force. That should have taught him a political lesson that he'll remember. Hopefully, his recent call for open talks between the parties are sincere.

I call not local on this thread. Too much Views, not enough Roane.

Thanks for the time out

It started kind of local with the Tea Party drawing attention to TN. Then we wandered off course, and I agree, RL. The conservative/liberal diatribe should continue elsewhere.
