2 Fires on the same nite claimed one life and destroyed a home, which brings me to the thought of the father and son who were killed in a house fire 3 years or more ago, at the end of the Lon Mee Bridge in Harriman that house is still standing burnt out, kids playing all around it why has it not been torn down? Maybe because it belongs to a Harriman Councilman and his family? Lets do something about this 3 years is way too long why why why?

Have you ASKED anybody?
Have you checked with anybody in codes or bldg inspections? Do you know what the city codes require or don't require in this regard? They're available in the City Clerk's office. The city has adopted specific codes for unsafe buildings. Do you have information that these codes are violated in the instance to which you are referring?
RB
The codes have definitely
The codes have definitely been in violation with this burned out home but from what I understand a complaint has to be made with the building inspector/codes enforcer for action to be taken. But, I would think that complaints have been turned in at some point in the last three years. A phone call would suffice.
Oh lord yes
I have taken pictures to city council meetings, 2 people have died here more than 3 years gone by, A Harriman City Councilman owns this property and the bridge is named in honor of the family . Yes many complaints have been made . I personally know both building inspectors from Rockwood and Kingston both of whom worked at Harriman and for good reason no longer work here, the wheels move very slow somtimes not at all, GOBS are still in charge in Harrian, maybe one reason we have selective enforcement of the codes in Harriman!!!!!
Almost 3
years to date.....
(link...)
Googled the Street View
map, the property is owned by the Mee family,
While I understand the issue of allowing unsafe structures...
... to stand... I'm not sure how the unfortunate and sad death of AJ Melton is related to some "campaign" to generate ill will toward a city council person. Hell, if you want to start a political campaign, just do so. It doesn't require some non-existent link between a tragic death and the abandoned structure to do it. At this point in time there is no link. The abandoned structure did not cause this death.
RB
No nobody made such
a claim , but that the one occured 3 years ago and the structure is still standing because it belongs to a councilman, and this structure which will probably be torn down immediately!!! Its called selective enforcement my friend.
And is one reason we lost 2 really good and qualified building inspectors to Rockwood and Kingston, they no longer wanted to play the Harriman Game "GOBS"
Yet it is still going on every day in Harriman check it out for yourself, several have been torn down within a few months none more than a year maybe you Booster have more pull than an average Bill like myself
Check out the RCN
Front page Harriman Building insectors office demands clean up of a Harriman Planning Boards Yard yet no ention of the 3 year old house fire that claimed 2 lives, The Mee Family needs to take this on their own and clean up the property not wait till they get the "LETTER" in the mail come on Maria get with the program selective enforcement is not a good way of doing business.
Drive out Morning Drive and
Drive out Morning Drive and look to your right toward the end of the street. You will see a MASS of old refrigerators in plain site of the street. All the neighbors are upset about the planning commission member's junk field. And I would think it would be hazardous for those old fridges (and possibly the freon in them) to be sitting out in the open like that! And, they look like they've been there for a long time. He cleared the brush out between the road and the junk field and now everyone gets to look at them when they pass by.
One place has
claimed 2 lives already , tear down that house, Maria !!!!!!
Have you folks directly
Have you folks directly addressed these matters to the property owners themselves?
I know what it is like to be blind sided at the County Commission on a matter that a neighbor could have simply asked me about in person. Sometimes things degrade into an adversarial situation anyway but if that can be avoided it is a good thing.
Yes sir
WC it has been taking to city council, but a sitting council member owns the house in questions???Several complaints have been filed with the codes and building inspectors office all to no avail.Good article in RCN today on front page several citizens claiming selcective enforcement.
