I guess they had to try something since the current administration has moved the Whitehouse offices back from K street where Grover Norquist had run the Cheney/Bush administration.
The slam was not against Joe; it was not against the Obama administration; it was against the Washington Post's plan to sell access to their top reporters and editors who in turned promised access to top Obama officials.
The Washington Post has already abandoned this bad plan.... Link...

Yet haven't we always recognized and joked about the difficulty VP's often have in accessing the POTUS.
Most VPs have been irrelevant unless in their role as understudy they ascend the throne.
