Containment Booms
Do you think they will remove those big orange "speed bumps" installed along the banks?
I wonder what all of that activity on Saturday will do to the water quality. It would be interesting to sample today and then again Saturday night for comparison.
Mike, that's a good post and
Mike, that's a good post and also a concern of mine.
Fireworks themselves are not good for water quality

Although I think it's fair to ask what the boat traffic through the Emory and lower Clinch does to stir things up?
Stirring up the ash
Every time they send the barges down here to clean up our cove, we can see what stirring up the bottom of the cove does. There's just as much ash in here when they leave as there was when they got here. As the barges start out of here, they stir up the bottom and all the ash starts swirling around and then floats right back into the back of the cove again. We take pictures before they get here, while they're here and after they leave. It's a losing battle.
Busy days on the river
Busy days on the river always leave that wonderful gray color on top at the end of the day. The cenospheres aren't coming from the dredging on these days. It is coming from migrated coal ash from the May 4 flood. I will be curious as to water quality immediately after the festivities this weekend also. But, there will not be any testing done Sunday or not even Monday. TVA and TDEC will wait until the water settles down again before testing. That is standard practice for them.
Yes TVA, thanks for that "kind" donation. But, like WC, where is the money for destroying this county's waterways? Where is the money for the citizens who can not sell their lake property now because of your mistakes, mismanagement, and cover-ups over the years?
Now, I am wondering just how much money you will be donating in the campaign to open a landfill in Midtown to accept new coal ash. When the county commission votes to have this referendum, how many ads will you be taking out to promote it? Already, political pshychology is being used to promote it. The wording "for schools and other projects" is always good for a vote. This time, I do not think the people of this county will fall for it. But, I am sure the money used to promote your efforts, along with the money the county commission will spend for promotion of this idea, will be appreciated by the RCN and other ad outlets.
