Friday at Yonder Holler

Submitted by WhitesCreek on July 1, 2009 - 7:59am.

The schedule for "Yonder Hollow" July 3rd is one of the best. Brandywine will kick off the show at 6:30. This group from Loudon Co. has been a regular since "Yonder Hollow" opened years ago. Listen to this, the other bands include local legend Gene Horner and his Fiddle Shop Band, from Knoxville Ron Collins and his Circle of Friends will be on stage, Trent James and the Trent James Band and fresh from a tour in the state of Georgia Alex Leach is returning. Alex is one of the best known up and coming young men and puts on a great show. He will be going on another tour next week. Alex plays with the well known Larry Gillis band out of Georgia and is a two time DJ of the Year winner. He is a DJ at WDVX in Knoxville. Other bands may show up, we never know who will walk in the door. These bands appear at Dollywood, Appalachian Museum and lots of bigger well known places. The good thing about "Yonder Hollow" is the informality and you are not a mile from the stage.
Doors open at 5:30...Show starts at 6:30...No smoking or drinking, just good clean family atmosphere, sorta like the old "Mid-Day-Merry-Go-Round" that was in Knoxville years ago. Admission is only five bucks and if you bring an instrument and want to "jam", two dollars will get you in. Lots of jamming room, clean rest rooms, band practice rooms, comfortable seating, air conditioned, soft drinks, hot dogs, popcorn and coffee is available. Live on WYSH-AM, 580 on the dial starting at 6:30.....Come on down and see what you have been missing and why people drive a hundred miles each Friday. It is NOT 100% bluegrass, but it is 100% accoustical, no electric instruments or drums. Old country, new country, bluegrass and good old fashion gospel music....Join us, won't you ? Ray
