Here is a link of a HPD LE now Randy and others is it legal to post such pics on the net in city owned uniforms and guns? I would like you and other to answer this. Is this the vision and image you want for Harriman?

Candidates:
I am not a candidate, but it
I am not a candidate, but it looks a little over the top militant for our small towns. Kind of portrays a big guns blazing look, instead of serve and protect. Shucks, I like Andy myself. Get the job done with your mind first and foremost if possible.
I would have to say if that
I would have to say if that is city issued guns and attire I would not be comfortable with him wearing it on a personal website with that heading. Now I would have to check with the Police Chief and see what the cities and the departments policy is on officer conduct on and off the job. But it does appear disturbing the heading more than the look of the picture. And no it is not the vision and image I want out of Harriman.

Is it is or is it ain't?
There is no law against such pictures being posted. There is no law that pictures of city uniforms or equipment cannot be posted.
That said, in the picture I see on the link provided, there is nothing identifying the department (personal knowledge of where the subject works is not the same as an identifier in the photo). There is nothing in the image that identifies the equipment displayed as being city or county property.
In absence of a law, then there may or may not be policies in invidual jurisdictions' departments (such as city PD, county SO, etc). That is a totally different issue. And policy does not rise to the level of defining something as illegal.
Having said that, there can be a significant difference between what is prudent and wise and whether or not a given image violates law or policy.
If people feel strongly enough that is a significant enough issue, bring it to the appropriate LE administrator and the body (e.g. Police Commission) that provides oversight. That is where policy is made.
Outside that process, it is nothing more than individual preferences and tastes.

Do WHAT???
I don't understand at all. What do you mean I would be the first to cry foul if I didn't like them in. Like what in what? What are you talking about?
What do you mean "my" OISEENU column?
How about some translation into plain English.
RB
I don't personally know Kasey
Is that a problem for you?
You know what? I didn't defend "anything" that police officers do. You have NEVER seen me "defend" anything illegal done by a police officer or anyone else.
I am saying however that you need more than private opinion to enforce discipline on any employee, police officer or not. Have you ever heard that two wrongs don't make a right? In this case what that means is, if we assume for the sake of discussion that Kasey Mynatt's actions are 100% wrong, then using the wrong means or methods to discipline him are NOT justified.
You do it right or you don't do it all. If you think that's "defending anything the police officers do" then you go on in your perversion of truth and be happy with it.
If what Kasey Mynatt put on his website is wrong (rather than unwise or imprudent) for a Harriman police officer to do, then the appropriate means to discipline him is a policy and procedure within than department.
Given what makes news in lots of places concerning police misdeeds, if what we can find to get into an uproar about is a website that violates no laws, then we've got it pretty damn good.

Roane Booster
Just because something does not break the law or violate a policy,
does not make it abnormal, wrong, distasteful etc.
You're absolutely right.
Not breaking the law does NOT make something abnormal, wrong, or distasteful. Those are generally subjective descriptors, not objective.
I can find something distasteful if I want to - as can you. But, as you note, that does not necessarily make it objectively wrong, and it sure doesn't make it illegal.

And all this time I thought
And all this time I thought RB was a man! LOL
worldwide
Looks like is OISEENU is Portuguese.
Wow, we are talking worldwide now.
Sorry, friend...
I don't have a column in the Roane Reader. I appreciate that explanation.
The rest of your post is still as cryptic to me. Explain it and I can try to answer. But absent that, I can't respond because I have no idea of what you're talking about.

Randy U dont believe the Princess is Going to Save us
"It is strategic to the revitalization of downtown Harriman to complete the renovation of the Princess Theatre in a timely manner."
The Place we need to look at is the Midtown Interchange. We need to invest in a building or a person to build some buildings and give them a tax deferment to open a business in that area. That is where our growth is in Harriman.
I completely agree that we
I completely agree that we need to pursue the area around the Midtown exit. If you read one of my previous posts I stated.
"Yes I agree the renovations to the Princess is a great thing and I support it 100% but we don’t need to put all our eggs into the theater basket. We need to grow our tax base with business and industry to lower the property tax burden on our residents."
The downtown is a great area that tells a story of our heritage and a great place to visit, hold events and have shops. But the future of any city is like stated before new business and industry and strip malls. So no I don't believe the Princess is going to save the city. Thanks for the question and checking my website out!

I would not associate with Lincoln on a Campaign Stump
Lincoln supports a Federal Income Tax and does not support the Fair Tax so you must believe as he and the rest of the King Georges that believ in higher taxation. See it and read it and believe in it
(link...) Lincoln dont support it

Randy Ellis And Other Candidates?
Just the topic of this post caught my attention. Is it singling out Randy Ellis as a candidate, since no other candidates in Harriman are mentioned? Are you for or against Randy Ellis? Or is it because he is one of only a couple of people who are running, or that are already in office with the guts to come onto roaneviews and post?
And, have you ever really sat down and talked with Randy to get his ideas and get to know him personally? I have. Now, I am not a voter in Harriman. But, I think Harriman would be well served to vote Randy Ellis for City Council. He is a new face with new ideas. He is keeping informed of not only what is going on in Harriman, but county-wide also. He attends planning commission meetings, county commission meetings, and council meetings.
So a post singling him out is a good thing in my view. It gives those of us that know him the chance to support him and his efforts.
Thanks Rick I try hard to
Thanks Rick I try hard to stay informed! Not only on a city level but a county level also. To see what is going on around us and how it can effect us and how we can benefit as a city. I am also trying hard to reach every one in the city on a personal level by knocking on doors we are hitting about 40 to 60 doors a day. I know it is impossible to meet everyone but me and my 3 year old campagian buddy are trying hard!

Rick I dont know him I do know you
but posted that to get his opinion and as long as he dont keep crying about swan pond I will vote for him. I at one time voted for your brother then I got to know him and went back to being a dem. for the most part. I didnt like some of your brothers personal choices as well as his choices at work.... I know Randy supported a rep for president but so far he as said some good things..But I have not decided I will listen to them all. Like the mayors race they all said some good things but Mason didnt live up to alot of his promises but who can right.
Actually,
I fail to see where my brother's politics is relevant to this post; or my "crying" about Swan Pond. Each of us have our views on what is happening with this disaster. Yes, I will continue to call it that. But for what it's worth, I didn't like some of his politics either. The post was directed at Harriman candidates. I just gave my opinion on the one singled out.
Randy Has my Vote
I will vote for Randy if he will promise that he want ask TVA to fund the Princess Theater. HUB already gets 68.78 percent of a bi-weekly check. I want even be able to afford to go to the theater if they fund it...
I do not support money from
I do not support money from the TVA going to the Princess. We have capital projects right here in Harriman that needs funding. We need to research why our sewer rates are so high! We need to pave roads! We need to put in sidewalks. Like I have always said I support the Princes project and would love to see it up and running. But we need that money for infrastructure and lowering rates if possible. And we don't have to spend every penny we get we can save money! I don't think there is any thing in the charter that states we can not have a savings account. Another idea I know a lot of people want a swimming pool?

And we don't have to spend every penny we get we can save money
You got my families Vote, I will be carrying my elderly mom to make sure she votes for you from Clifty Manor. I am tired of this million dollar police budget and see more county deputies than city. I mean you tell me why did the city pay for a camera system so that the police chief could log on at home and see what his police officers were doing in the station. I use to work in Harriman in 1996 to 1999 and I wished I would have stayed and worked for Jack but I got federal job now, but then we use to share police cars and equipment...then you would go somewhere and have one other person on shift with you and I promise we answered all calls within a time limit of Roy was on us and asking where we are. I sit in a police car that we used duct tape to cover the holes in the seat. Roy told us its just for eight hours someone depends on that money we are not spending on a new car to pay the light bill.
Now its gone astray, why does Harriman need a Training Unit, when we have Knoxville, Blount and Walter State who give if not better training. I dont see the cost benefit in this. Why do we park these dummy cars around on the streets when a mile away you can see the P on it and know its a catch car. Thats a waste of gas and manpower. Why does the fire department Chiefs all have cars. Why cant the firfighters eat in the station with the stove and utensils we paid for as taxpayers instead of driving around town and wasting all that gas? Its mandated that I get one lunch break for 30 minutes and I have to eat in a employee break room at the airport, I cant take that nice Gvet sedan down to Taco Bell. Thats why is says Govt Use not personal use
