Remember how shocked we were to find out that 60% of Tennessee 3rd graders could not read at grade level? Well guess what!
...Tennessee children performed worse on every education indicator in 2021 except the number of high school students not graduating on time, which remained the same...
The percentage of fourth graders in the state not proficient in reading rose to 70% (up from 65% in 2019) and the percentage of eighth graders not proficient in math jumped to 75% (up from 69% in 2019), according to the latest report.
