More on the "Resort"Submitted by WhitesCreek on May 9, 2008 - 8:20am.
First of all...We broke this story on KnoxViews and then RoaneViews, just to set Damon Lawrence right on who got it first. We bloggers actually have other jobs and can't normally compete with a young ace like Damon on original reporting, so we have to take our wins when we can. Damon has an update in the RCN that RoaneViews Readers might find interesting. I take three things from it: The land owner will sell the property to someone else if they offer him more money, Commissioner Goddard speaks in double negatives, and Commissioner Johnson is so naive that he thinks Roane County ought to actually obey the law...Good for him!

I did see a link to the Rosebud Lodge Web site, but no story other than ours. We are kind of proud that bringing people details on what is happening around them is our full-time job.
WC did not break the story. He merely put out a teaser such as " A resort has Roane county buzzing" Now if he posted details on Knox Views that could have very well been. But why post on Knox site. They have enough problems of their own.
As for the 2 lane DIRT road being sufficient by Roane County standards is his opinion only.Go see for your self or talk to many of the families along THAT road
And finally what if every citizen placed a call to the County Mayor? I believe the Zoning Office was dealing w/ the firestorm . Unless WC was grand standing about his "inside" connection with the County Mayor.
I guess we're going to rest this discussion on what the definition of a story is. Sure, all we posted was the "news" that the resort was proposed and the website. We put it on KnoxViews because our web host was redirecting RoaneViews to a nice Egyptian resturant in Egypt.
We rarely get to do original reporting here, one because we don't have the time, and two, because pros like Damon Lawrence do such a good job of it. We stick by our claim of having posted the "news" first, but we also appreciate the Roane County News and the job they do filling in the blanks.
LaLa, I would have sworn that road was paved right up until the gate, and that it was a normal rural Roane County road, similar or better in fact than the road that goes into Camp Buck Toms, the 700 acre Boy Scout Camp that houses hundreds of scouts at a time and no one seems to have a problem with that traffic. I'll double check and own up to it if I'm mistaken.
Also...Mike Farmer would be very surprised to see that anyone thinks I have an inside track with him.
A writer is already calling folks here "close minded rednecks" and "haters:" Link...

Seems like that writer lumps all of us together. I've met very few people around here I don't like, although there are a few things I wish they wouldn't do.
"Teach, don't condemn."
The media did not paint it as a gay resort. His orginal website did it for him. And if that wasn't enough his Porn site Rosebud .com finished it up.
He claims to be from Oneida so he should take it to his hometown.
I for one am proud to be a Redneck and Bible thumper.
But I sure know the slang word for ROSEBUD. Check this web site Link...
