Jim Brown, found earlier this week with a head wound, unconscious on the pavement next to his vehicle, is still in a coma in Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville. He is apparently paralyzed on at least half his body. Jim is a well-known Rockwood resident, a Vietnam combat veteran, West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department firefighter, and Roane County Rescue Squad volunteer. No cause has yet been determined.

Please send your prayers for this stricken neighbor, husband, father, and community volunteer. Donations for his wife's expenses in Nashville, etc., may be sent via West Roane County Volunteer Fire Department's Chaplain, Bruce Foster, at WRCVFD, P.O. Box 417, Rockwood, TN 37854. For more information, call 354-1993.

Wonder why/how I missed this bad news?!

Damn, OneT - I must be asleep at the switch! I don't think I know Jim, but I'm surprised that I haven't heard of his predicament.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention so that the many folks who read this blog have an opportunity to share in supporting this valuable member of the community!

The West Roane VFD - and all the others, as well as rescue squad, emergency management volunteers - do this county an unbelievable service that costs relatively little compared to paying a salaried service to do it. Least we can do is provide support when one is fallen: money is good, prayer and moral support is essential even if no money can be given due to one's circumstances. EVERYBODY can afford to provide prayer and moral support!

RB, it happened over by Nashville

RB,

You probably hadn't heard anything yet because it happened over in Murfreesboro outside the VA hospital there, or so I heard.
