Republicans in the US Senate are routinely filibustering nearly every bill the Senate majority puts forward. In this case their actions will cause the rates students pay on college loans to go as high as 10%.

After

After reading the article, it appears that the GOP does not oppose stopping the increase in student loan insurance rate.
They do seem to differ with the implementation and financing of the plan. Actually the GOP plan is close to what Mr. President has suggested. So why are the Democrats making it sound like the GOP is dead set against protecting the rates? What BOTH sides need to do is meet in the middle, but I have no illusion of that happening.
Also, should be a reminder that loans that are not fixed rate are not always a good idea.

The GOP has consistently

The GOP has consistently filibustered any attempt to lower student loan rates. Every time it is a different excuse. This time it is that they don't want to end taxpayer subsidies of the oil, gas, and coal industries.
