The focus would be helping students become more intelligent science consumers by learning how scientific work is done: how ideas are developed and tested, what counts as strong or weak evidence, and how insights from many disciplines fit together into a coherent picture of the world.

The guidelines call for teaching about climate change and evolution. Not surprisingly a group called "Citizens for Objective Public Education" is opposed because it takes away a parent's right to keep their child ignorant of the scientific method and critical thinking. The group is exactly the opposite of what its name would imply. Most opposition seems to be either religious or corporate based. What do you think?
