Does anybody else think the folks who used the vehicles should pay Us, as in "We, the People", back for the mileage?
I mean, if you hold a County position where your job is to make sure folks follow the rules...Shouldn't you follow the rules?
How much money are we talking about here?
Suppose the vehicle took three or four "little" trips a week, say to Walmart (12 miles round trip?), to a softball field (10 miles round trip or maybe 60 miles if the field is in Knoxville), or to the grocery store or football game or whatever. I'm guessing that a personal trip is tough to keep under 10 or 12 miles around here. So four trips a week would run about 48 miles and say 50 weeks a year with vacations is about 2400 miles at 48.5 cents a mile is a bit over $1100.00 a year in round numbers...Could be more...Could be less.
But, with a County Administration that wants us to pay more money for a jail and still doesn't have enough money to pay for our schools, let's at least make some pretense of acting like we care about the People's Money!
