Just saw an old article referring to Hurley's career(s). Does anyone know what Hurley's consulting job is? (was?). Or, is this another stretch of the truth?
"Hurley now works as a consultant and entrepreneur. She is a Southern Baptist and a member of the National Rifle Association and the Gun Owners of America".

Folks, there is a pattern of characterizations of our Rep Hurley which certainly suggest the stripes of a zebra...that is, a pattern true to her self-inflated image.

Candidates:
Dated
This article is a little dated 2/6/11. Don't know about consulting, but she did/does own a company that sells sports oriented products. Is being a Southern Baptist a disqualifer for being a member of NRA?
Not disputing the article, just wondering why it is being resurected at this juncture.
Hurley - career
Certainly not questioning one's religion; just curious about what type of consulting work Ms. Hurley performed at the time of the article or prior to the article. Yes, it is dated, one year ago, but is not that dated. I can guarantee that people will want to know what the other candidates have done for a living, regardless of how long ago.
Where is her sports oriented products business located? And, what is the name of the business? I think it is important for candidates to have a successful career, preferably in business and recognized leadership attributes.
In a candidate's career, 1-3 years of work history is certainly not considered dated.
Thx
Thx onetahiti. I really haven't and don't intend to delve into the past deeds of the candidates. The whole going back year after year to dig up something they might or might not done is really pretty old. And that is for all who are running.
No wonder people who are good citizens and could offer a lot in the arena of public service are not running. Who wants their lives dissected like this?
I think this quote is most
I think this quote is most appropriate pertaining to this candidate:
Heck
You don't have to go back far at all to see how she has conducted herself! Just do a google news search for her and you will see what the Country has seen about her and it reflects on Roane. You character and how you conduct yourself is very important.
Teddy
Yes, just look at how hard MA voters looked at Teddy Kennedy's past and how far he went. Pure politics or mysoginy?
Hurley is no Kennedy
In the twenty years I lived in Massachusetts, I saw many folks who had great sympathy for the Kennedy family. Many homes had a framed portrait of JFK on display. Whatever might have happened in Chappaquiddick, most people appeared to forgive Senator Kennedy or even feel sorry for him.
Although he could have been more progressive, still as senators go Senator Kennedy was on the side of the people. He was a supporter of women, the poor, minorities, the sick, working families, unions, and of the 99% generally.

Huh?
You mean misogyny? I have no issue at all with women that lead. Sad if that is the angle Hurley supporters are taking. I know she or her supporters do not want to talk about her past actions. So I guess we just need to forget how she has acted the last 2 years and move on?
Harriman1
Thank you. :)

Thanks
Was pretty sure I misspelled it. My point being when male candidates make what we perceive as bad decisions it normally is discussed a short time and goes away. Women candidates on the other hand are dogged by poor decisions all their lives.
She has done no better or worse than some of her predecessors. And even though some are now in public service it is a non issue. Seems like a different set of rules for women regardless of party affiliation. And this is sadly what keeps good people from running for office.
List
Care to name some issues her predecessors had in the past that have been splashed on headlines world wide?
+ 1
Excellent point H 1!
We hear a lot about Hurley's Hooters experience but not one blip about the fact that she was fired from Ruby Tuesdays. There's more that will ooze out over the election course.
Hurley's business
"Hurley owns and operates JaCy Co., which sells collegiately licensed sports apparel and tailgating merchandise at SECGrillToppers.com." Source: AOL News ((link...)).
There is a lot more detail on her LinkedIn page ((link...)).
However, the SECGrillToppers.com site is now a Japanese site.

hurley and women
Hurley, in a very short period of time, has created an image not favorable to women. Face it, her methods are sexist and degrading to women.
Flat out insulting.
some things never change.
A bunch of people who do not like her, and apparently do not like her voting record are throwing out anything they can to discredit her. Some of us happen to like her voting record in Nashville.

Voting Record
Hurley's voting record is not the offensive to me, in most cases; it is her judgement used in presentation of her actions which are most offensive.
For me, I am a conservative, always voted conservatively, and will be voting for the candidate who will represent the District with honor and admiration.
When one mentions the name of our Representative, whether it be in Nashville , Knoxville, or any other location, I prefer the response be positive v. the responses I have witnessed.
In Nashville, I prefer for our District to be a district with a well respected representative v. a 'brash' and rude Representative.
PS - Norm, thank you for your service!
Fired from Ruby Tuesday's
I had a friend that worked with her at RT. I asked them why she was fired. After he laughed his butt off he told me!!!!! That to me just turned me off of her. That stuff is fine for Mardi Gras, but not for work!
