Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning "To Kill a Mockingbird" is under way at the Theatre in the O'Brien Humanities Building at Roane State Community College.
Tickets will be available at the door, $10 and $7. No reservations or reserved seating necessary. 7PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and at 2PM on Sunday afternoons. April 8-11 and April 15-18.
Cast includes Bill Landry, who is better known as the host of the Emmy-winning "Heartland Series" on WBIR channel 10. What many people don't know is that Landry is a trained actor, receving his MFA from the prestigious Dallas Theatre Center. Also in the cast are students and community members, including three well-experienced and very talented youth actors. The large cast comes from Roane and several surrounding counties.
On Friday night, April 9, when the first actor took to the stage for the curtain call, an immediate spontaneous standing ovation occured. People were excited about the quality of the telling of this timeless story.
There's PLENTY of time for readers of RoaneViews to attend on Saturday night or Sunday of this weekend, and on eother of the 4 performances next weekend. I don't think you'll be sory you went.
And don't ever let anybody tell you the arts can't be found alive and well n Roane County!
