There have been a number of scams asking for money to help the victims of the Haitian tragedy. (Even though credit card companies are getting a 3% cut off the top which if they had a conscience they would pass along instead of making money off earthquake victims...) Here is a list (thanks to KnoxViews.com) of excellent organizations helping on the ground in Haiti:

American Red Cross
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
Mercy Corps Haiti Earthquake Fund
Partners in Health
UNICEF
UN World Food Programme
Doctors Without Borders
American Jewish World Service
Catholic Relief Services

Apparently they heard you

although $200,000 isn't much in the scheme of things in the credit card business.

The Salvation Army isn't

The Salvation Army isn't listed in your group but they already have three locations set up near the embassy building.

Post a link for us. I rang a

Post a link for us. I rang a bell for them this year.

The Salvation Army website

The Salvation Army website is:

salvationarmyusa.org

They have info on their Haiti relief efforts and general info there.

The local (Roane.Morgan Co)

The local (Roane.Morgan Co) bell ringers raised a total of $27,000 to be used to help local needs such as groceries, utility bills, burnouts, medicine, etc.
We could use 10 times that amount if we had it.

I suggest anyone who has a "problem" with the mandatory dollar tacked onto your utility bill (HUB) for their assistance program to write out a $12 check (one year's worth)to either Mid-East, Roane Co. Salvation Army, or the Ministerial Assc. and request that the donation be used to help with energy bills for the needy.
