Emergency personnel have been searching since Wednesday for a 90-year-old man who wandered away from his house.

Members of the Roane County Rescue Squad staged this morning along Dry Hill Road near the Morgan County line to search for the man.

Anyone have an update? These things are always tough on the family.

As of about 2:30 today...

The man had been found. Based on what I heard on the radio, he is in a very remote, inaccessible area. They were using Mules (the vehicles, not the animals) and 4-wheelers to move rescue folk & medics closer to him. By the time I type this at nearly 4PM he should be out. They worked through the wee hours of the morning. As I understand, Roane County Rescue Squad was assisted by Morgan County, and the effort was also coordinated with Roane County Office of Emergency Management.

Good people!

Hope everyone appreciates our rescue squads. They are ready to do some tough jobs, day or night.

Absolutely they are!

Update - around 4PM got the gentleman out. Had become more oriented with daylight and moved closer to his home. Apparently a bit hypothermic but in pretty good shape. Has done this before but has been found quicker by family. Good weather today was very fortunate.

He's out, and the volunteer squads have accomplished their mission!

Way to go, buys and gals!
