Here are some ideas for bumper stickers, fliers or t-shirts. I thought they might get some people here thinking. I know there are others that can come up with better ideas or wording. I wanted to write up one about drinking the Koolaid, but didn't think that would go over so well. lol Sorry, I have to laugh about this once in awhile to keep this whole thing from getting to me.

Here's another couple

If You love Roane County,
Don't let it become TVA's Ash Dump!

How about:

TVA Promised To Make Roane County Whole
We're Still Waiting, Mr Kilgore!

TVA Wants To Send You Their ASH

TVA Says They Didn't Cause The Ash Spill

Pull The Plug On TVA - Make Them Accountable

Wanna Buy 5 Billion Gallons Of Coal Ash? Call Tom Kilgore at TVA

Or

TVA - KISS MY ASH!

LOL!

LOL! You may be kidding, but it's that kind of bumper sticker that's going to get attention and also that kind of sticker that people will pay to put on their vehicles. I had an earlier one posted somewhere else that said....

"Take Your Head Out Of TVA's Ashhole"
"Support Your Roane County Community"

It might sound crude, but it's funny and people like humor.

Here's Some More

TVA - The Coal Ash Monster

TVA is Killing Us

TVA Doesn't Care

Maybe you can make a list and let everyone vote on the final ones. I like some of the other ones too. Great job on getting this started. I like bumper stickers and T-Shirts a lot.

Ok, that was fun, now...

Let's see if we can turn all this boundless energy into something positive. How about something like..

Got Problems...Finding Solutions

Restoring Roane County!

Actually, I was serious. lol

Actually, I was serious. lol I personally think that if the slogan is not funny or doesn't deal with something people hold near and dear to their hearts, like children, then it's not going to be remembered. I've seen a lot of bumper stickers through the years and the only ones I can remember are the funny ones. Maybe that's just me. I think the slogan either needs to be funny or refer to children's health, futures, etc. being damaged by TVA. That's just my opinion. Others may feel differently and that's okay, too.

Reviving a thread

Farmer Leaf,

If I want to revive a topic that has scrolled off, I just add a comment to it. This causes it to jump back into the "Discussions" list.

I agree, though, that things scroll off too quickly. For example, it would be nice if the Discussions list were a bit longer.

OT, what I meant

was, where did the energy around the discussion go? We move along so fast that discussions become "so yesterday" so quickly.

Farmer Leaf

I apologize for misunderstanding your intent.

I'm not the person to ask about the energy for that thread since I was not part of it.

I do understand your question as it applies to the broader situation. Do you have any web design ideas that might help keep the ball rolling longer?

When I was a forum administrator--for some years in a former life I administered 38 different message boards on AOL--I would post "seed" posts to keep things moving along. I also made sure every single person got at least one welcoming and supportive answer to each post. I tried to write good content in these comments that would elicit more responses from others. We don't have that kind of neutral moderator here, though I have wished for one many times over. :)

No time for modesty

"Do you have any web design ideas that might help keep the ball rolling longer?"

You are asking a farmer with rudimentary computer skills at best. I think I should be asking you that question instead.

quote of the day....

We don't need another Ash Hole in Roane County, the one we have is more than enough.....

Hey TVA!

Hey TVA!

Pull your head out of your ash and do what Kilgore promised!

Okay,

So how do we narrow all these wonderful ideas down to a couple and take the next step?

While it may not be that PC for our community, I must admit that this is my favorite so far.

my favorite farmer....

glad you liked it... it has a certain ring of truth, don't you think?

Most certainly,

and it has the added benefit of "transfer" as in multi-uses.

No TVA ash hole in Roane

"No TVA ash hole in Roane" or "Roane, not TVA's ash hole" Your sentiments, shorter to fit on a bumper sticker.

TVA - Kiss our ASH

TVA - Kiss our ASH

I Love That One

"TVA - Kiss our ASH" is simple, to the point, and made me laugh. I know that it is not a laughting matter, but it draws attention.

The next step would be

to set up a poll, select the top two or three slogans, get commitments to purchase the stickers, find a printer, work out a good deal, raise some money.
Poll suggestions. Each participant could submit their one best submission. Each entry would be given a number for identification. Voting limited to one time per person. Pick the favorite two or three. Tally up the results after 5 days. The ones receiving the most votes gets printed.

Comments, suggestions?

Sounds practical and well thought out

Have each person vote for their top three, that way each can vote for their own and two others.

Last week

I started going around to some small business owners that I know, asking them to think about donating bumper stickers. I did not ask for cash. Some of them told me to get prices and they would consider it. They made no promises. But, I think a few of them might do it.

So vote on a slogan, and we can get busy.

Time to post your ideas

This thread is the initial idea area, but to have your slogan voted on to see which slogan or two becomes the actual bumper sticker, it needs to be posted on the "Official Site" I have set to take this process to the next step, as in actually moving beyond talking about it and taking action.

Thank you, and I look forward to everyones participation.

A Caution

Here’s some free advice that’s worth what you paid for it.

Are you going to put the stickers on your cars to make you feel better or to rally others to your point of view?

When I drive behind a car that has a bumper sticker I’m almost never drawn to their sentiment. I usually want to pass the driver and see if they fit the stereotype that would match the sticker. Such as “Abortion is Murder” or “Bush Lied People Died”. I like and remember the humorous ones but the off color ones only make me happy it’s not on my bumper. I would want people to think I was wittier than that.

Moved from the OFFICAL BUMPER STICKER thread

I just had to add one more... unofficially of course...

Coal Ash is Deadly... Just ask my fish.
