Cheese...picked up some Kraft Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Cheddar the other day (it was the best this store had).

Looking forward to a late snack, last night I rounded up my favorite cheese slicer (the little cutting board and wire knife), some water crackers, and an adult beverage.

The ritual of preparation is often as enjoyable as the meal....

Upon opening the cheese, I discovered that some marketing tweeb or anonymous product review committee at Kraft had decided that American consumers were no longer capable, too lazy, and/or too busy to cut off their own cheese wedges.

The cheddar was pre-sliced into ever so uniform sections, laid out in neat little rows, separated with strips of waxy-paper to prevent sticking, and packaged to look like a solid hunk of cheese!

Is this what the world is coming too - every little joy and small pleasure taken from us in an effort to protect our fragile sensibilities from even the slightest inconvenience?

Are we to be homogenized and remorselessly pampered into the utopian future where even "hardships" like slicing cheese are denied?

Geez, Brant. Don't blame the

Geez, Brant. Don't blame the world for your failure to plan ahead and shop at a better cheese store.

Here...Maybe this will help.

Point Taken!

Do I get a redo?

Absolutely..

Hopefully, we all get redo's. Life's a process, but it is greatly improved with a hand cut slice of good cheese.

;>)

And...We have no-zero grading here at RoaneViews.com. But you're on your own when you take the ACT.

I've always loved...

... to cut the cheese.

Sorry - something just MADE me!!

I'm truly glad to see some light-heartedness here. Laughing is good for you!

Besides - one who can not see the humor in flatulence has no soul [grin]

Brant, I don't mean to be cheesy but

Kraft and Cracker Barrel are two different brands of cheeses. I love the Cracker Barrel Vermont! The Cracker Barrel brand is better cheese than the Kraft in my opinion. But, if you are buying the Kraft, they still sell the unsliced, along side the new pre-sliced version. You just have to be careful in the cheese aisle.

Dare I say I performed "sharply" on my ACT? Well, I gouda go now...;)

Kraft Cracker Barrel Cheese

Bottom line is that WC is right. Serves me right for trying to cut the wrong cheese!

Kraft Natural Cheeses include the following brands, all of which come in many great tastes and sizes:
Cracker Barrel Cheddar Cheeses*

Old Cracker Barrel Cheddar Cheese
Medium Cracker Barrel Cheddar Cheese
Mild Cracker Barrel Cheddar Cheese
Marble Cracker Barrel Cheddar Cheese
Light Cracker Barrel Cheddar Cheese

* Cracker Barrel Cheddar Cheeses may be available in these convenient sizes: 200g, 300g, 540g, 750g.

Brant

I stand corrected. I had no idea Kraft made Cracker Barrel Cheese. Don't forget the Cracker Barrel Vermont in the product listing :)

Cheez..

When we founded RoaneViews.com we were hoping to serve as a source of knowledge for Roane County and beyond. It looks like we are fulfilling that mission and more.

Just so you know there is more to life than cheddar...Our Clemson son is instructed to bring home several wedges of Clemson Blue Cheese when he visits. It is consistanty rated one of the top ten cheeses in America. And with Sweetwater Valley Farms right down the road, why are we relying on that northern stuff for our crumbles and cheese toast? We have really good cheese made right here in the South.

Clemson, huh?

Say, WC - is that Clemson Blue (bleu?) anything like good Stilton? If so it is among the finest things of life!

Mouth watering.... can't think....

Your killing me!

... Few palatable pleasures beat a French baguette, a late harvest Viognier or Riesling paired with a fine blue cheese.

Is it lunch time yet?

I had all but forgotten about our Sweetwater cheese connection and will fire up the Harley this weekend for a cheese-run....

Me, too, Brant...

I'm slobbering... er... salivating... I remember a few years ago when Johannisberger Riesling crops were blessed with the "noble rot" and the vintage was extra wonderful. A friend of mine gave me a CASE of the stuff from that year for Christmas and I made it last the whole year! Oy!!

A juicy sweet apple, with some tartness. Some Stilton or other fine blue cheese, some Johannisberger Riesling, a good bread like you mention... and an afternoon to sit back and watch the sun blaze on the leaves like it did this weekend...

It won't get any better.

How far to Clemson?

Road Trip! for blue.

Be really nice and we'll have some delivered

With the money we're paying for that Clemson education, the least we can expect is some cheese for Xmas.

We may have to take orders, but I promise it will be worth it.

Order Clemson Blue On Line

It is absolutely the best domestic blue cheese! Its a bit pricey but I like it better than Maytag. Here's a link to order it online...no road trip necessary!
