Who are we?

I had several people tell me I shouldn't put my Obama sticker on my car because it might get vandalized. Sure, there were some incidents but not many. I never had a problem and in fact...I had several people come up to me and say they liked Obama.

So now, there's work to be done. Tennessee Democrats were let down by the state party. That's bad, snce it means that Republicans are now in charge of both houses. But it could ultimately be good, because it is a wake up call to Progressive Democrats. We have to get going unless we want to see the governorship and both state houses be under the control of Republicans.

We have seen what that means at the Federal level and it could be even worse down here. We have to get involved.

Let's not be afraid any more. Over the coming months, we will have to rebuild a local Democratic Party into something we participate in. An organization that asks us for our time and effort, and calls on us to participate in government.

Get Ready!

Funny...

I wouldn't put a McCain Palin on my car for the same reason.... mmmmmm something's wrong here.

Hmm..

It's time to drive out fear.

President Obama

I didn't vote for Obama. But I didn't much care for the guy I did vote for either. Barack Obama's presidency could, in my view, have two very positive outcomes:
1. The U.S. needs a more libertarian foreign policy. What I mean is that it's none of our business sometimes. I don't care for Hugo Chavez. But if the people of Venezuala want him as their leader, that's up to them.
2. I certainly hope race relations improve. Blacks belong in the mainstream of culture, not in some "subculture" where those who are in the mainstream (examples: Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams) are considered "Uncle Toms" who have "become white". I hope this type of thinking will come to an end now.

I take exception to your

I take exception to your "Uncle Tom" reference. These three and many others who are referred to as "minorities" have achieved their status through hard work and taking advantage of educational paths.
The same opportunities are essentially provided to ALL AMericans who WANT to apply themselves. Those you sit back and bemoan their status in life or who, (through jealousy or envy, I think)label those who do accomplish great things as "sell outs" to their race are the real lode stones in improving race relations.
Like him or not, Obama had the same problems many young people face today..... bi-racial with a white mother, black father and raised by grandparents.
Many young people, white, black, hispanic or bi-racial face similar problems. It is up to the parents (or parent in a lot of cases), to instill in our young that "Nothing is impossible" if you want it bad enough to work for it!
Sadly, too many parents are instilling a different philosophy into their children. One of... just sit back and do nothing and the government will take care of you and your offspring!

I don't know why you took

I don't know why you took exception to my "Uncle Tom" reference. We aren't in disagreement at all.
I think you misunderstood me. Would you please read it again and check?
