Tennessee is home to an amazing diversity of, well, everything! Shouldn't we be all about protecting our natural wonders?

Update: The new specimen was collected from the type locality of the species — Berry Cave in Roane County.

Researchers at UT have discovered the largest individual of any cave salamander in North America, a 9.3-inch specimen of Berry Cave salamander. ..
Salamanders are one of only two vertebrate animal groups to have successfully colonized caves. The other is fish, said Gladstone.

Uh oh...I'm thinking I know someone who has a cave shrimp named after him. That ain't no fish! But Aha! Shrimp are not vertebrates.
