Tax Assessor candidate Steven Robinette has outdone himself with an even more venemous 2nd smear sheet on his opponent. I just got it in the mail.
This type of campaigning disgusts me.
I don't care about a public official's private life. I want to know about job performance, and why a challenger thinks they can do a better job.
Now, I don't like taking public sides in a campaign like this but I am going to. I will vote against Mr. Robinette. Roane County can not tolerate political campaigns based on smear and innuendo if we are going to have good government.
In Mr. Robinette's resume he presents absolutely nothing that makes me think he is remotely qualified for the job. His level of ignorance on the meaning of real estate LLC's, green space designations, and other not so complex aspects of property ownership, as exhibited by some of his claims in his smear sheets and web site, demonstrate that, while Ms. Kirkham may have committed some tansgressions that she needs to attend to, she is the only candidate in the Tax Assessor race that is remotely qualified for the office, in expertise but more importantly...In
Temperment.
I don't think many of us want to deal with a public official willing to stoop to the low form of discourse shown by Mr. Robinette in his tactics.

Amen, Brother, Amen!
I would have much rather received a mailout giving me some background and info about Robinette's qualifications than to read a vicious attack on his opponent!
Maybe it's because the inside would have had to have been left BLANK!
Of ALL the times WC and I disagree...
THIS ain't one of 'em!!!
He hit the nail on the head:

Nothing I can add to WC's discourse other than my own AMEN!

If you think the mailer is bad taste.............
you should run out and check his website. Why does he find it necessary to list all of her married and her maiden name? I really don't think it matters how many times she has been married, nor to whom. I also don't think that it is necessary for us to know anything surrounding the divorces. Robinette also speaks about Kirkham claiming to have experience.... well she has worked in the office for 30 some years. I see nothing in his website or his mailing that give me any indication that he has experience. Maybe a lot of time on his hands, but no experience. He even goes as far as to mention her mother on the website. He needs to go back to training martial arts students.
I don't disagree with him that we need change maybe, but from someone who has an idea.
