I was asked this question and thought I'd share my reasons for it.

The single most important factor in a functioning democracy is participation.

Sometimes folks are afraid to voice ideas for any number of reasons, but the fear of condemnation by others, or even retaliation, is big. Some folks are just shy, and, even though they have good ideas and could really contribute to the conversation, they are hesitant to participate in the community discussion that helps us reach consensus.

So here you are. If you want to use your real name, the name of your favorite superhero, your cat's name, or some well known geographical feature in your neighborhood (ahem...), it doesn't matter. You don't even have to register and can be anonymous in the comments.

You do have to be nice, though, or Gramma will find out and there'll be trouble. (She's already given me a good talking to about previewing my posts before others see them)

So thanks for coming over. We plan to have a good time.

Peace,

Steve
