Tennessee has become the grand stage in a theater of the absurd:

We've had one of Donald Trump's most prominent New Hampshire supporters arrested for his role in the Bundyite takeover of an Oregon wildlife refuge, and an infamous white supremacist got tapped as one of Trump's California delegates. At this point hearing that one of his Tennessee delegates is a militia-linked nut who openly opines that he and his fellow Americans might need to start assassinating federal officials doesn't even rate as surprising.

So now we're in the position where the Republican governor of the state of Tennessee has to put out statements like this.

Gov. Bill Haslam will be a Marco Rubio delegate at the convention, although Rubio withdrew after the Tennessee primary. Asked to comment on Riden's views, Haslam's press secretary, David Smith, would only say, "The governor has a strict policy against elected officials being assassinated."
