This is an interesting piece in the Oak Ridger, with lots of information from Ron Woody. The thoroughness of the article makes me sad for what we have to deal with from the Roane County News.

“Whether it’s Roane or Anderson County, about 65 percent of your taxes are going to education — and another 10 goes toward ‘justice service’ such as jails, the sheriff’s office and judicial,” said Woody. “We are trying to educate responsible citizens, but some are irresponsible and don’t want to follow the rules.

“The rest (of the tax dollars) goes to bean counters and check writers like me and public health.”
