...And it will last seven months until August 4.

I'm sure every candidate will run a positive campaign focusing on their own experience and merits and how those skills will be used to serve Roane County citizens in an honest and fair manner without regard to special interests.

I'm dreaming.

Announced so far:

County Road Superintendent:

Dennis Ferguson incumbent
Brian Mullins finished last in the previous election
Tim Clark Currently Kingston Public Works Director

Property Assessor:

Current Assessor David Morgan has not announced at this point.
Molly Leggins-Hartup has been praying about it.
Other names have been mentioned but no announcements that I know of.

Both new judicial appointees have stated their intentions to run for election. Being appointed by the full County Commission is about as strong an endorsement as a judge can receive but others have mentioned the possibility of running. Nothing official to date.

Today is the first day for candidates to pick up petitions and there may be surprises down the road. AS for discussions here, I suggest everyone review the special election season rules.

Here we go!
