Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning "To Kill a Mockingbird" is under way at the Theatre in the O'Brien Humanities Building at Roane State Community College.

The Creative Arts Co-op is excited to announce the opening of its new home. The Creative Arts Co-op Visual and Performing Arts Center is located at 426 Ruritan Road, Harriman. The larger facility offers more space for our theatrical productions, camps, and classes as well as our soon-to-be famous murder mysteries. There will be an official grand opening later this month (once the paint dries), so we will keep everyone posted. And we hope to see you there!

As some of you may already know, the Creative Arts Co-op lost its agreement with Holy Joe's and is no longer able to rent the space for its theatre division (youth camps, recitals, murder mysteries, etc.) We are currently searching to find a new home in Roane County before camp and murder mystery season are upon us. But - to date - have been unsuccessful. So, I am reaching out to the community for help in the search. The Co-op primarily works with children, but also produces community theatre and professional theatre shows (in addition to visual arts, etc.). If anyone has any suggestions or a city is interested in having a theatre outfit in town, please let me know. Please e-mail me directly, so we don't clog the web site. Thank you for your help. The Creative Arts Co-op closed its community theatre production of 'A Christmas Carol' Saturday, December 19, 2009. And the show was an amazing success. The cast of young adults succeeded in presenting the iconic tale in an entertaining and lively way - engaging the audience. And brought to life the meaning of Christmas. To those of you who joined us over the two weeks of performances - THANK YOU! To those of you who missed it, you missed a great show.

While there is a lot going on this weekend, I just wanted to remind everyone about the interactive murder mystery happening this weekend. 'Don't Get Blood on the Popcorn' is a fun and entertaining show that offers a good 'adult' night out on the town. The cast is amazingly talented - and well known to some of you.

The show is rated PG-13 - as it is a murder mystery and involves the causes of murder - greed, revenge, etc. The shows, however, are not inappropriate.

OPEN AUDITIONS!

The Creative Arts Co-op's holiday show this year will be the Dickens' classic 'A Christmas Carol'. Open auditions will be held for all characters on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 7:00pm and Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10:00am. Headshots and resumes are great, but not necessary. Auditions will be cold readings from the script. Show dates are December 11, 12, 18, 19, 2009 with rehearsals beginning October 12, 2009. Auditions will be held at the studio located at 505 N. Roane Street, Harriman.

The Creative Arts Co-op is proud to announce the third annual high school level musical. The World War II musical entitled 'Kilroy Was Here!' is a high-energy look back at 1941. High school students from throughout the county auditioned - with several schools represented. Students from Roane County High School, Harriman High School, Murphy-Cates Academy, Cherokee Middle School (intern), and several home schoolers are involved in this year's production.

The Creative Arts Co-op is hosting its 2nd Annual New Year's Eve 'Murder a la Mode'. The Co-op plans to take someone out as we ring the New Year in! This year's show is entitled 'Mardi Gras Murders' - and includes all the glamour and drama of New Orleans.
The show takes place on December 31, 2008 at Holy Joe's in downtown Hariman with the show beginning at 8:00pm.

Two packages are available:
'Just the Show' - $30.00 per person includes show, hors d'ouerves, dessert bar, non-alcoholic toast, and party favors.

'Dinner and Show' - $47.50 per person includes all of the above plus a prime rib dinner at The Spot Cafe located directly across from Holy Joe's.

Mark your calendars! After its second successful season in downtown Harriman, the Creative Arts Co-op will be hosting its second Halloween Murder Mystery.

Scheduled for Halloween weekend (October 31 and November 1, 2008), the show 'Long Live the Quarterback' will be another wacky and zany night of intrigue and entertainment. The evening begins as the guests arrive - characters mingle with the audience. Then, after the dastardly deed is done, a clue hunt ensues with the audience as the detectives.

And don't forget about the dessert buffet. Delicious desserts - some say they're to-die-for.

The Creative Arts Co-op will be hosting its annual 'Open House' on Friday, August 22, 2008 from 4:00-6:00pm. The yearly event always coincides with the beginning of school. "Our fall schedule begins in September in order to give families time to adjust to the new school year and decide if after school classes are right at this time," commented Mary Kaye Eisenberg. "I look forward to meeting students and parents interested in our programs. During the open house we will have videos of past performance programs and a display of past art projects to give everyone an idea of what we have to offer."
