I like to think this is rare. I wonder what the statistics are for our County?

Brothers Joseph Franklin Capps III, 24, of Kingston and Brady Alan Capps, 27, of Harriman, along with Ron Allen Arwood, 24, of Harriman are charged with especially aggravated burglary and robbery

Within the last year...

... there was a Roane County man who had to kill his son in self defense during a violent home invasion. Can't remember the name at present. A few years back there was a killing in which (I believe a relative) a person killed a quite elderly woman in a home invasion. Fortunately it doesn't happen all that often here, but its incidence is generally on the rise based on reports I read.

I also remember a home invasion-robbery in which a very weak woman in her 80s was robbed and shot to death by a 17-year old down in the Blackjack community.

Sometimes a home invasion goes unreported if it is successfully defended against by the invadee, usually by use of either superior force or visible and credible threat of superior force (e.g. drawing a gun but not shooting the invader).
