Dewatering At the TVA Recovry Site

This is from TVA. There's some great engineering going on at the recovery site. Some of it involves a learning curve.

Dewatering activities on Segment 6, adjacent to Swan Pond Road, began today. A crane suspends a large “drill bit” that pumps water at high pressure to create wells, that are 60 feet deep, along the perimeter of the segment. Water seen “spilling” over the top of the “drill bit” is excess pumped water (not water rising from beneath the ground). Once created, siphons will be installed that remove excess water below the subsurface and stabilize the working platform (where heavy equipment is stationed to build the perimeter wall). Work will continue 10 hours a day for approximately two weeks.
