Will Calfee Vote to Take Away Local Control of Schools?

Submitted by WhitesCreek on January 7, 2013 - 10:30am.

This is going to be a big deal in this state. Are we going to let for profit school lobbyists control our legislators? Who will Mr. Calfee represent, us or them?

Here's a piece from WBIR

Pretty obvious, eh RB?

Michelle Rhee's lobbying group releases a presser claiming the only solution to TN's grade C schools is for a voucher program to for profit schools. Her group misnamed Students First is funded by advocates of For profit schools. You'd think WBIR would give this one a pass instead of being a tool.

Hey did you notice that one

Hey did you notice that one of the things Students First marked down on was having a strong Teachers Union? Michelle Rhee is a scam artist but she has powerful friends and we don't have elected officials who will stand up for us. Wave bye to our public school system.

I WAS kinda surprised...

... to see this on WBIR.

In Students First World...

Louisiana is the top-rated state, according to StudentsFirst. It ranks 49th of 51 on eighth grade reading scores and 47th of 51 on eighth grade math scores.
Florida is StudentsFirst's second-best state according to ideology. According to educational results, Florida is 35th on reading and 42nd on math.
StudentsFirst says Indiana is third. The "nation's report card" says it's 30th on reading and 23rd on math.
The District of Columbia, where Rhee had her way from 2007 to 2010, comes in fourth according to Rhee's ranking system. According to the NAEP? Dead last.
Rhode Island is fifth in Rhee-land. It's 29th in both reading and math on the NAEP.
