Republicans Filibuster TVA Nominees

Submitted by WhitesCreek on July 25, 2010 - 9:37am.

Even after President Obama gave the monumental concession to bipartisanship by reappointing Bill Sansom, TVA Chair during the catastrophic coal waste disaster and implicated by the Inspector General for actions during the aftermath, Republican Senators are filbustering the appointments using the "secret hold". (The secret Republicans are aparently the Senators from Alabama. Why?) This is a disgusting tactic that should be ended immediately. Republicans simply do not play well with others. They do, however, seem to follow orders very well. If only they took orders from the American people instead of corporations and lobbyists. It disgusts me even more that one of the five remaining TVA board members is Mike Duncan, whose bank is overseen by coal company executives and who is running a fifty million dollar slush fund for the Republican party.

LOL

Demorats have no problem gumming up the works with filibusters when they are in the minority, but it is a real problem when the Repubs do it. I think anything that the Repubs do to thwart this marxist regime is admiral.

Points

You will not make any points with remarks like that!!!

Particularly since that

Particularly since that remark is untrue! Just for fun, why don't you count the times Dems filibustered when they were in the minority and then count up the times R's have filibustered in this session alone.

Points matter not!

Chelsea: I do not care about making points and if my remarks rile up the "progressives"......well...so be it!

whitescreek: I do not care about the number of times the filibusters have been used. I do care that this current marxist regime is destroyed and Conservatism rules the day so we Grownups can get down to the business of pulling this Country out of the liberal abyss!

Show me one thing that

Show me one thing that demonstrates this regime to be Marxist?

And...Remember that Jesus was a Liberal.

I'll show you a few

1. I a 2001 interview maobama trashes the US Constitution because it does not allow for the marxist wealth redistributuin that he believes in. maobama's beliefs in wealth redistribution should be well known to everyone by now.

2. maobama sat in the pews of Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 years and shouted "amen" to the avowed marxist and BLT leader jeremiah wright.

3. maobama is pushing for the marxist and economy killing cap and tax (global warming tax) bill.

4. maobama is surrounded by marxists and communist. I see ayers, van jones, dohrn, mcChesney, etc all avowed marxists and radicals.

5. maobama is pushing for the "fairness "doctrine" designed to silence speech that is not approved by the tyrants in charge.

6. maobama is presiding over the promotion of chaos and racism (See "Rules For Radicals")

7.maobama is presiding over the takeover and attempted takeover of the private sector.

These examples are just a few of many. You are "whistling past the graveyard" if you don't see what is really going on.

Childish name calling, RM

All recycled and debunked crap from you with no links or anything to back it up. This is the typical sloganeering that comes from the right.

And would that President Obama actually was pushing for the reinstatement of the fairness doctrine which only requires that a program labeled "news" actually contain factually presented news with both sides represented.

I do see what is going on. You have these talking points rattling around in your head making so much noise that you can't think for yourself. Calling Obama a racist is beyond credibility.

Oh honey, you aren't

Oh honey, you aren't upsetting me. I love a good debate. I know both sides do lots of things they critize the opposite side for doing.

Look Maden

The rule here is that outlandish claims must be backed up with legitimate news links. If you don't like that, go somewhere else. It's not up to us or the management to do your work.

rmaden

Dude, read some books.

When you repeat right wing drivel you should at least try to get it correct, otherwise you look foolish. You homophobic rant about California overlooks the fact that the judge was a Bush appointee and the main witness for Pop 8 had actually made public statements against it. Your "Up is down" illogic fails tries to contradict fact in that this case was decided on pure Constitutional grounds found in the equal protection clause in the 14th amendment. You spout that "Our Constitution is everything" while failing to realize that it is the radical conservative right that is announcing plans to try to alter the 14th amendment, which among other things, gave equal rights to all Americans. You are wrong on everything, offensive on most of your posts, and done here at RoaneViews.

Remember..........

............George W. Bush is still our president, NOT! If anyone hasn't noticed, he has been out of office for awhile! But, he will continue to get the blame for the shape this country is in. He really let me down his last four years, but what we have now is so pitiful.
For those who drink the Obama kool-aid, drink up , cause instead of going nowhere, we are going nowhere FAST!!

WhitesCreek's picture
The W Presidency is still poisoning us

W appointees are embedded everywhere in our government and will take years to clean out. The TVA Board is just one obvious travesty.

Now let's talk about kool-aid and who drank it.

Obama has accomplished more in his first 18 months than anyone ever thought possible. His biggest problem is dealing with the economic mess he was dealt and having, not just Republicans doing everything they can to block progress with a record number of filibusters, but he's got to deal with Blue Dog Dems who are also not helping. In spite of that, we have major steps in stopping corporate insurance companies from destroying what's left of our healthcare delivery system, steps to put the brakes on the worst travesties of the financial institutions, a renegotiated Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty that Republicans are also filibustering I mean hey...Why let Obama make the world safer from nuclear armagedon after all?
