There are answers to most of the questionsSubmitted by WhitesCreek on January 7, 2009 - 8:49am.
Emotional music overplays the real questions posed in this video. Most of the lake scenes that were not shot at ground zero are still intact, particularly Sand Island. In fact someone was camped on Sand Island and had an American flag stuck up in the sand earlier this week. (I am moving the video hoping that the spacing on the front page will restore itself. Look for it in the comments. If that doesn't work, I'll post a link )

there was a lot of time and effort put into this video. Amazing at how a large catastrophe can sometimes not be large enough to actually allow people to be taken care of properly.
Can you imagine what the scene would have been with the children playing in the lake when the tsunami wave came steam rolling through? This video is a good example of what people that don't use the lake can't possibly understand or relate to. This is the biggest reason that people will be suing TVA. Not only for lost property values and marketability, but for a lost lifestyle and dreams. You can't put a price tag on it. Its tragic. Thanks for the video WC it almost brought an old heathen like me to tears.
Does anyone know who made the video? There is an mgtillyer that posted this on YouTube.
You know everything I know, RL, but we can certainly ask and find out. The person that sent it to me said it came from a Swan Pond Resident.
Anyone who knows should probably reply with a private message, rather than a public post.
I agree that we ought to reply with a PM. Or you can call my office at 354-3333 and leave me a message.
I'm also looking for a video of yesterday's presentation by Weitz & Luxenberg and Erin Brockovich, if anyone knows where I can find it.
...Nose dive at the Brockovich meeting last night. He made some statements and got booed out of the gym . Not sure what that was all about but now he's in here nosing around. As for the teenager who made this video, she did a brilliant job.
What I found to be interesting is that this video is showing up in every corner of the free world. Its become a rallying cry for environmental activists and old conservatives like me who have seen the light.
So what did RL say?
I am looking for the video, and would be happy to have someone post it or email it to me or otherwise get me a copy. And if that occurs, I would be happy to post a transcript of my discussion with attorney Robin Greenwald of the New York law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg.
However, for now, suffice it to say that I essentially asked Ms. Greenwald whether, in holding a "town hall meeting" to "discuss legal options," her firm was complying with Tennessee Rule of Professional Conduct 7.3, which prohibits attorneys from engaging in "in person" solicitation of clients unless "the lawyer’s pecuniary [financial] gain" is not "a significant motive for the solicitation."
In asking the question, I honestly thought they might have some good explanation. I didn't hear a good explanation, and stand by my later comments that this was nothing but a "sales pitch" of the exact type Rule 7.3 was designed to prevent. The whole presentation should not have occurred.
I don't take myself too seriously, though. Crappieman's "10 seconds to lynching" comment was pretty close to accurate. People came to hear Erin Brokovich, not me, and maybe they thought I was being a little disrespectful to the lawyer Erin said they could trust. I didn't intend any disrespect, but thought someone ought to point out our state's ethical rules.
I appreciate your standing up and making your statement, RL. From the looks of things, you are entirely correct. Brockovich and her attorneys have a history of leaving town when they find out the opportunity for punitive damages aren't all that great.
My enviro-warrior friends have stories...I don't want to post anything further here, though. Erin Brockovich has done some relly good things and it's possible she means us all well with the most altruistic of intentions. We'll know soon enough.
...Thats why I said "Not sure what that was all about". At the time I was speaking with an attorney and not paying much attention until the crowd grew restless and started booing. He looked about 10 seconds from getting lynched. I just thought it was conspicuous that he was in here asking questions earlier.
Crappie--
The video is fine with me, and quite effective for what it was made for. I have nothing against the video's maker, no matter how old.
But what is the source of your information that the maker is a teenager? Just "nosing around."
