Flight of Heroes

Just for today, let's try not to think of a President reading "My Pet Goat", or the awful aftermath for our country and the world that these terrible attacks were used to justify.

Let's honor the innocent victims and the heros...The New York Police and Firefighters who were so valiant in the face of horror.

For me, as I remember the men and women on the ground who performed courageously, I can't help but think of the greatest example of the fierce American spirit on Flight 93. The passengers, realizing the situation attacked the terrorists who had every intention of flying their plane into one more target, taking even more lives, and causing more heartbreak and loss.

Let's remember the words of the charge that saved America from even more devastation on that day, even though the passengers knew that it probably meant their deaths...The words of Todd Beamer minutes before Flight 93 was driven into the ground in a woods in Pennsylvania instead of into a building of innocent Americans...Today, in our moments of silence all over this country, let's face within ourselves the work that still must be done to fix our Nation. It's time for us to say it again...

"Are you guys ready?"

"Let's Roll!"

On 9/11, Americans across our great country came together to stand with the families of the victims, to donate blood, to give to charity, and to say a prayer for our country. Let us renew that spirit of service and that sense of common purpose. Let us remember that the terrorists responsible for 9/11 are still at large, and must be brought to justice. Let us resolve to defeat terrorist networks, defend the American homeland, stand up for the enduring American values that we cherish, and seek a new birth of freedom at home and around the world.
